On
behalf of the Citizens of Wauseon, I welcome you
to the Wauseon, Ohio website. Wauseon (population 7,400), the
county seat of Fulton County, is located in the northwest corner
of Ohio. Thirty miles east of the Indiana line and 30 miles west
of Toledo. We are a family oriented community with a strong
emphasis on youth. We invite you to take the time to visit our
community so you can see why we are proud to call Wauseon our
home.
Downtown
Downtown Wauseon is the site of weekly antique car
cruise nights
during the summer, Wauseon Homecoming, Chili Cook Off, and
Cultural Fest. There are also unique shops and restaurants
located in our historic downtown.
Parks
Our park
system boasts 7 parks with an eighth underway which is an 80
acre facility that will include 12 baseball & softball diamonds,
T-ball diamonds, sand volleyball pits, basketball courts, soccer
fields, and football fields. This project, spearheaded by the
Wauseon Rotary Club, is made possible 100% by donations from our
generous citizens. Our recreation program serves over 2,000
young people annually with year round programs with emphasis on
physical, mental & artistic stimulation.
Our School
System
For the 2005 -2006 school year, the
Wauseon Exempted Village
School District was rated "Excellent" on the Ohio Department
of Education's Local District Report Card. Our school district
had the lowest "Expenditure Per Pupil" in the Four County Area
and one well below the State average. This is a school
district's best indicator of fiscal efficiency. Our school
district also has the lowest "voted property tax millage rates"
in Fulton County.
